Notes

Please use caution when merging. There are a number of Griswold families in New England, related, with similar family connections.

Matthew Griswold, this profile, is NOT married to Mary Porter; Mary Porter married Nathaniel Hosford (Citing Ye Hosford booke: Horsford-Hosford Families in the United States [1]. The families are apparently linked at FamilySearch and Geni, without sources, and can be assumed to be errors. Nathaniel Hosford is related to Sarah Hosford, wife of Joseph Phelps; they are the parents of Mary Phelps.

Mary Phelps' ancestry is well-documented: she was born 8 Jun 1869 to Joseph Phelps and Sarah Hosford (Connecticut Vital Records and Connecticut Births and Christenings). She is buried in Windsor, CT here: [2]

However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Matthew:

Griswold-998 and Griswold-379 are not ready to be merged because: The two individuals are of different generations. The fact that they both married "Mary" - one born Porter, the other born Phelps - is probably the source of confusion. The FamilySearch source cannot be relied upon, as it does not reference original sources, only "user-submitted" documents. I will look into this further.

Griswold-998 and Griswold-379 appear to represent the same person because: same first name, last name, spouse, daughter Mary.
