Hattie was the second oldest child of Ignatius and Martha Taut Grossman. The family emigrated from Germany on the ship Pretoria from Hamburg, arriving at Ellis Island, New York, on May 27, 1904.[1]The family was living in Waterloo, Ontario in 1911.[2]
She married Albert McCormick when she was about 19 years old. In 1921, they were living in Waterloo with their two oldest children.[3] By 1931, the family had grown to include seven children, though one daughter died at age four. The family lived at 91 Willow Street, in Waterloo.[4]
Hattie and Albert were the parents of 12 children. Hattie died in childbirth when she was 42 years old. She is buried in Mt Hope Cemetery, Lot 153 Grave 3, Waterloo, Ontario. [5]
