ANDERSON—On Nov. 5th, at Warkworth Cottage Hospital, Catherine, beloved wife of Peter Anderson, of Mahurangi, and loving mother of Mary, Jack, Alfred, Freda, Fred, Ernest, Leslie, Eric and Kathleen. Aged 75. — R.I.P.

Death notice & Obituary[6]

The death of Mrs. Catherine Anderson, which occurred at the Warkworth Hospital on November 5th, removes one of the early settlers of Mahurangi. Born in Bohemia in 1868, Mrs. Anderson came to New Zealand in the year 1873 with her mother and step-father, Mr. Thomas Turner, a shipwright, who was intimately connected with the shipbuilding industry at Mahurangi Heads. Up to the time of her death, Mrs. Anderson retained vivid memories of the activities of the three shipyards at the Heads, which flourished up to the year 1880. In 1892, she married Mr Peter Anderson, the couple celebrating their golden wedding last year.

Mrs. Anderson was known for her lovable nature, her fondness for flowers, birds and animals, and her passing will be mourned by a wide circle of friends.

She is survived by her husband, six sons, Messrs. J. F. and F. E. Anderson, of Auckland, A. W. Anderson, of Portland, F. J. and A. L. Anderson, of Mahurangi, and E. P. Anderson, at present serving overseas with the N.Z.E.F., and three daughters, Miss M. Anderson, and Mrs. F. A. Grogan, both of Auckland, and Mrs. K. R. Moroney, of Mahurangi.

Preceded by Requiem Mass at the Puhoi Catholic Church, the interment took place at the Puhoi Cemetery on Saturday, 6th November, and was attended by a large gathering of mourners.
