Biography
Alvie was born on February 15, 1910, Monterey, Highland Co. Virginia.
Alvie was the child of Charles Richard Gum and Louise (Puffenbarger) Gum.[1][2]
Mr. Gum operated a sawmill for 35 years, did general farm work, and carpentry.
His first wife was Janie Simmons Helmick Gum.[3]
He had a brother William Robert Gum Sr.,and a sister, Catherine Palmer of Monterey.
He married Hannah Mae Anderson Trimble, June 20, 1980. and then Hannah Mae Anderson Trimble on June 20, 1980.[4]
He was a member and trustee of Seybert Chapel Methodist Church and a Private First Class World War II Veteran of the U.S. Army.
Alvie passed away on December 12, 2003, at Oak Hill Center, Now Ruxton Health of Staunton Virginia.[5] He is buried in the Perry Puffenbarger Cemetery.
