Mary Gum was born about 1776 in Virginia to Isaac and Martha Gum (per census and death record). According to Oren F. Morton's "A History of Highland County, Virginia", she was born in 1778, married Jacob Seybert in 1798 and died 1861.[1]
In 1850, Jacob and Mary Seybert resided in Highland County, Virginia with the family of their son Jacob and near the family of their son Henry.[2]
In 1860 Mary was living with her son Henry Seybert at Monterey, Highland County. She was recorded as 84 years old.[3]
Mary Seybert died 5 Oct 1861 in Strait Creek, Highland County, Virginia at age 83; the death record stated she was born in Pendleton County, Virginia. Her husband was Jacob and her parents were Isaac and Martha Gum. The informant of her death was her son Henry Seybert.[4]
Her death record stated she was born about 1778 in Pendleton County, Virginia. The 1850 census stated she was born about 1776 in Pendleton County, Virginia. The 1860 census stated she was born about 1776 in Highland County, Virginia.
The death record of her husband stated he was the son of Henry and Rachel Seybert.
Her first cousin Mary Gum Flesher, daughter of Jacob and Dorothy Gum, married William Flesher (son of Henry and S Catherine Flesher/Fleisher). Mary and William Flesher resided in Dade County, Missouri in 1850 and in Andrew County, Missouri in 1860.
