Sarah Bryant Gurley, daughter of Jason and Susan (Bryant) Gurley of Troy Grove, La Salle County, Illinois, formerly of Connecticut, married Joseph Hall of Ottawa, Illinois, June 15, 1842."
"Sarah Bryant Gurley was born at East Hartford, Connecticut, May 27, 1823, and at the age of eleven years moved with her parents to Troy Grove, Illinois (near Ottawa), where she, later, taught school, and was also post-mistress. She was a great favorite of the old Indian chief, Shabloua, who was friendly to the whites."
She was the mother of 9 children: Harriet Salina (born May 17, 1843), Charles Augustus (born February 19, 1845), Franklin Gurley (born January 26, 1848), Susan (born June 13, 1851 and died October 29, 1853), Henry Glover (born November 9, 1853), John Addison (born August 19, 1857), Jason Gurley (born July 5, 1861), Mary Louisa (born September 12, 1864), and Clarence Bryant (born May 18, 1868).
Sarah B. Gurley Hall died November 5, 1896 at the age of 73 years.
