George Gurnett was a Journalist, politician and magistrate in Ontario. He was the fourth mayor of Toronto (1837-1838), then served again from 1848-1851.[1]
After the death of his first wife, he married Catherine Darby in 1841.[2] Of his eight children, only two daughters survived to adulthood.[3]
