Arlo was born in 1947, the son of Woody Guthrie and Marjorie Mazia (Greenblatt) Guthrie. He is an American song writer and folk singer in the mold of his father, Woody Guthrie. He was raised in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, New York as a child, and in Stockbridge, Massachusetts during his teens. His father passed away when Arlo was only nineteen years old.
Arlo Guthrie founded The Guthrie Foundationto honor the legacy of his parents. Located in The Guthrie Center[1], the foundation seeks to cultivate cultural preservation, promote educational achievement and foster community outreach to meet the ongoing needs of the community.
His daughters Annie, Sarah Lee, and Cathie are also musicians.
