Biography

Marie Louise Pétronille Guérin, known as Élise, was born on May 31, 1829, at Saint-Denis-sur-Sarthon, Orne, France. Her parents were Isidore Guérin and Louise Macé In 1844 the family moved to Alençon, and in September 1844, Élise became a pupil at the school run by the Religious of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary of Perpetual Adoration, in Alençon, Élise helped her sister Zélie to establish her lace business, in fact she travelled to paris where she successfully obtained orders. In 1858 Élise became a Visitation Nun at Le Mans taking the religious name Sr. Marie Dosithée. She died of tuberculosis at Le Mans at the age of 47 on February 24, 1877.

N.B. Some sources and books give her third baptismal name as Pétronnie, but this name appears to be unique and as the baptism entry (see images) shows it as Pétronille, and a name day, (May 31) is given for Pétronille but not for Pétronnie, I have believe Pétronille is correct.
