Hadden William Blacksmith at Longniddry and his wife[1] Helen Wight had a son born the 17th Decr 1808 Baptized the 30th by the Revd Doctor Hamilton Minister of Gladsmuir and named Robert Witne∫ses to the Baptism James and George Hadden[2]

Haddan Robert Smith Cottyburn in this Parish and Helen Blaikie in the Parish of Smailholm gave in their names for proclamation & were married 8th June 1833 by the Revd John Ramsay[3]
The marriage between Robert and Margaret was performed after Banns according to the Forms of the Presbyterian Church. It was witnessed by Edward Sutherland and Elizabeth Hamilton.
At this time Robert gave his parents names as William Hadden, Blacksmith and Helen Wight.
When Robert passed away the witness was his son William Hadden who had been living with his father, mother and brother James during the 1861 census at Somnerfield. He gave his father's name as Robert Howden Hadden.
