John Hagan was born on 12 November 1816 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania and died 7 August 1863 in Smithfield, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. He was buried at Masontown Cemetery, Masontown, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.[1] John was the son of John (Johann) Hagan and Margaret Grimes.

Geo, Mary, Isaac and Laura attended school within the census year and all in household were born in Pennsylvania except John Jr, born in Maryland.[5]
Additional writing on the side of the census form added 11 males to the census record.
Unable to locate the 1840 Census records for John or his father's household. The 1850 and 1860 Census records stated that John was born in Maryland.
