Biography

William served in the Civil War on the Union side with the 114th Regiment, Illinois Infantry.

The 114th Regiment, Illinois Infantry was organized at Camp Butler, Ill and were mustered on September 18, 1862. In 1862 they went to Memphis, Tennessee and attached to the 5th Brigade, 5th Division District of Memphis, Right Wing 13th Army Corps(Old), Dept of Tennessee. They mustered out August 3 and were discharged August 15, 1865.

Many of the men died of disease which may be why he died in 1866. I welcome a correction on how he died. He was interred at Jockisch Methodist Cemetery, Cass, Illinois, United States.
