Biography

1832 Honour Hagley, 9, apprenticed to John Bere yeoman for Down - ref. 2985 A/PO 8/230

1841 aged 15, living at Stoodleigh Down in the home of Farmer John & Susannah Bere, both aged 35.

1851 aged 28, living at Stoodleigh House, Stoodleigh, Tiverton with her husband Jacob. Also living with them were James Thorn, a widower and retired farmer from Rackenford, Devon, Susan Authers, an 84 year old spinster and washerwoman from Rackenford, Jane Burton, housekeeper from Wiveliscombe, Somerset, and Robert Webb, 58, coachman, from Brewham, Somerset.

1861 aged 36, living at Cascombe House, Stoodleigh with her husband, Jacob Wood, and children Eliza 7, Anne 6, William 3 and John 2, also lodger William Smale 46.

1871 aged 48, counted for the census at the Post Office, New Road in the employment of the Postmistress Harriett Escott 65 and her 2 sons William & James Escott, bootmakers. Employed as Nurse.

1881 aged 58, living at No.2 Churchstile, Stoodleigh, with her husband Jacob 59, and children William 23 and Caroline 12. Also a lodger Henry Clatworthy 28 from Chittelhamholt, Devonshire, wall mason.
