Biography

Wilhelmine “Minnie” Caroline Hahn was born in March of 1885 in Nemaha Nebraska, the daughter of Katherine Friedrike Mannschreck and Johann Friedrich Hahn. Her siblings were:

  • Marie Katherine Hahn, b. 1883
  • George Christian Hahn, 1888-1933
  • Clara Hahn, b. 1891
  • Rose A. Hahn, 1894-1975
  • Robert Phillip Hahn, 1894-1972
  • Elsie Hahn, b. 1896
  • Arnold Hahn, b. 1902

In the 1900 United States Census for Washington Precinct Johnson village, Nemaha, Nebraska, Minnie was 15, living with her father Fred, 39, her mother Kate, 34, and 6 siblings: “Mary”, 17, George, 12, Clara, 19, Robert, 6, Rosa, 6, and Elsie, 4. The Census stated that her father was born in Illinois and her mother was born in Germany.

Minnie married Alvin Anderson in about 1907 in Nebraska. They had five children:

  • Wilma Anderson, b. 1908
  • Gladys Rose Anderson, 1909-1983 (twin)
  • Glenn Robert Anderson, 1909-1977 (twin)
  • Lyle M. Anderson, 1916-1976
  • Norma M. Anderson, b. 1923

The 1910 United States Census for Lincoln Ward 2, Lancaster, Nebraska shows Minnie, 25, living with her husband Alvin, 24, and 3 children: Wilma, 2, and twins Gladys and Glenn, 11 months. This record states her mother’s birthplace as Iowa, not Germany.

The 1920 United States Census for Windsor, Traverse, Minnesota shows Minnie, 34, living with her husband Alvin, 34, and four children: Wilma, 12, Gladys, 10, Glenn, 10, and Lyle, 4.

The 1930 U. S. Census shows Minnie, 45, living in Arapahoe, Furnas, Nebraska with Alvin, 44, and five children: Wilma, 22, Gladys and Glenn, 20, Lyle, 14, and Norma, 7.

In the 1940 U. S. Census held in Ward 11, Racine City, Racine, Wisconsin, Minnie was 55 and Alvin was 54. With them lived one daughter, Norma, 17.

Minnie died in Racine, Wisconsin on 2 January 1962.
