Henry Peter Hahn, 66, Justice of the Peace of Precinct No. 1, died at 5:35 o'clock this morning in John F. Bell Memorial Hospital of double pneumonia. He had been ill only a short time. Mr. Hahn was a son of one of the pioneer settlers of Columbus. Attesting his popularity was his election and reelection to several political offices, and his long political career. He was justice of the peace in 1929, 1930, 1931, and 1932. He was elected county judge in 1932, and served in that capacity in 1933, 1934, 1935, and 1936. He was elected in special election March 11th, 1939, to fill the unexpired term of Justice of the Peace E. C. Thrower, and was reelected to that office this year. Mr. Hahn was born March 15th, 1875, in Columbus, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Hahn. He married Miss Gladys Ginn December 15th, 1915, in Columbus. He was a lifetime resident of Columbus.
Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow [Friday] morning at ten o'clock at the family residence, Rev. Jos. Szymanski officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Rest. He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Miss Annette; a son, Peter Henry; a sister, Mrs. A.W. Waugh of Houston; a brother, A.W. Hahn of Columbus. His brother L.V. Hahn died April 18th in Houston, and his father, Peter Hahn, passed away only a short time later in Houston, April 23rd. An aunt, Mrs. Laura Hahn, died October 1st, in El Campo. Pallbearers will be Sam Harbert, Ed Goldsmith, W.D. Grogan, R.R. Hadden, W.A. Struss and H. Braden.
