Biography

Noah was a Friend (Quaker)

"Noah Haines was born in Evesham, New Jersey, USA in 1727 to Abram Haines and Grace Hollingshead (1704-1769).

From "Richard Haines and His Descendants:" "Noah (4th gen) (Abram, Richard, Richard) of Evesham Township, Burlington Co., N.J. d. 1794; m. under the care of Evesham MM, N.J., 1761, Hannah (Thorn) Turner, daughter of Thomas and Letitia (Hinchman) Thorn, and widow of George Turner, son of John and Jane (Engle) Turner. First intentions of marriage were declared 9 mo. (Nov.) 10, 1761; second intentions of marriage were declared 10 mo. (Dec.) 8, 1761, and their marriage was accomplished 11 mo. (Jan.) 5, 1761/2. Noah Haines was probably a merchant, as Eber Woolman, who was keeping store, died at his [Noah's] home of small pox about 1760 or 1761. He [Noah] was Clerk of Evesham MM in 1763. He was the owner of a female slave, as it was reported Evesham MM, 9 mo. 5, 1776, that he intended to give her schooling and to set her free at the age of 18 years. Hannah Haines and her daughter Letitia were received Burlington MM, N.J. 11 mo. 2, 1795, and were received Mt. Holly MM, N.J., 7 mo. 6, 1797, from Burlington MM on certificate dated 6 mo. 5, 1797. Noah Haines died intestate. Letters of Administration were granted Sept. 20, 1794, to Thomas Thorn and Nehemiah Haines." Vol I, p.189

Noah married Hannah Thorn (1734-1778).

Noah and Hannah had the following children:
