John Haines, eldest son of Richard Haines and Margaret Leeds was born about 1664 in Aynhoe, Northamptonshire, England, christened on 25 Sep 1666 in Somerset, England and died on 10 Dec 1728 in Rancocas, Evesham, Burlington, New Jersey.
John married at least twice:
On 10 December 1684 in the Burlington Monthly Meeting, Burlington Co, NJ at the home of Thomas Gardiner, he married Esther Borton, daugther of John & Ann (Kinton) Borden. She was born 25 July 1667 in Aynhoe, Northamptonshire, England, and died 1719 in Rancocas, Burlington Co, NJ.
John married for the second time in 1722 at the Woodbury meeting house, under the care of Haddonfield Monthly Meeting, Hannah Whitall Wood, the widow of James Whithall and Henry Wood. Their first intentions of marriage were declared at Haddonfield Monthly Meeting during 2 month (April) 1722 and the marriage probably took place less than two months later. [1]

Notes about John Haines
John was a settler as early as 1683 in Lumberton, NJ. It is said he first lived in a cave and that he sent for his father and brothers. John was a large land owner in Burlington County, New Jersey and in Chester Co, PA. With brother Richard Jr., and five others, they purchased 2,240 acres in southern New Jersey and received the title from the Indian Chief Wesosig.

Todd..added sources in the biography. From what I have read maybe Hannah's surname is Whitall (not Haines) and she married John Haines and Henry Wood. No marriage to John Borton.

Tanya: Need to merge (UNKNOWN-56389) and (Hanies-254). Looks to be the same person in both profiles. Also, see (Unknown-249598) Hannah Haines formerly [surname unknown] aka Whitall and Wood. Thanks.
This profile and Haines-253: I believe that the Haines-253 profile data has become confused with the data of Hannah (Unknown) Whitall Wood Haines, wife of John Haines (son of Richard Haines, Sr.). Haines-253 is shown as the wife 1st of John Haines, then 2nd of John Borton, and the mother of 2 Borton children. The death date of Hannah in both profiles is the same. However, according to my source, "Richard Haines and His Descendants" by John W. Haines, the Hannah Haines of this profile, was married 1st to James Whitall, 2nd to Henry Wood, and 3rd (and last) to John Haines. Hannah died 10 years later. There is no mention of a marriage to John Borton and no children. (Vol. I, p. 49).
Wood-8964 and Haines-253 are not ready to be merged because: I believe that the Haines-253 profile data has become confused with the data of Hannah (Wood) Haines, wife of John Haines (son of Richard Haines, Sr.). Haines-253 is shown as the wife 1st of John Haines, then 2nd of John Borton, and the mother of 2 Borton children. The death date of Hannah in both profiles is the same. However, according to my source, "Richard Haines and His Descendants" by John W. Haines, the Hannah Haines of profile Wood-8964, was married 1st to James Whitall, 2nd to Henry Wood, and 3rd (and last) to John Haines. There is no mention of a marriage to John Borton and no children. Her Will "was dated December 5, 1731, and was affirmed Dec. 26, 1731. An inventory of her personal property was taken on Nov. 29, 1732." (Vol. I, p.49) I believe that had there been a 4th marriage, with children, to John Borton, it would have been mentioned in her Will and noted in John W. Haines' comprehensive book.
