HINSHAW, HOPEWELL FRIENDS HISTORY, JOHN W. HAINES (From my Haines Genealogy. Donna Haines Daly 26 Jan 2017)

"John Haines Birthdate: October 27, 1754 Birthplace: Evesham Township, Burlington, New Jersey, United States Death: Died 1834 in Virginia, United States Immediate Family:

Son of Benjamin Haines and Elizabeth Haines Husband of Mary Middleton Haines Father of Eli Haines; <private> Haines; <private> Haines and <private> Brother of Abraham Haines; William Haines and Job Haines, I."

The Haines were Quaker. John Haines is the son of Benjamin and Elizabeth (Roberts) Haines. John was born on December 27, 1754 and died on April 9, 1833. John was a farmer and, apparently, he moved from New Jersey (where he was born) to Pennsylvania. He also owned land in Virginia and Ohio. I'm not clear on why he owned that land or whether he ever lived on the Virginia and Ohio land.

John married Mary Middleton on October 10, 1775. Mary was born on 09/04/1749 and died on 04/13/1812. Both John and Mary are buried at Redstone, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.

John and Mary "were received Hopewell MM, Va., 6 mo. 7, 1779 from Evesham MM, N.J., on certificate dated 12 mo. 10, 1778. They were received Redstone MM, Pa., 12 mo. 28, 1810, from Hopewell MM on certificate dated 11 mo. 3, 1810. As a resident of Fayette Co., he received land in Columbiana Co., Ohio, by patent, 15 May 1809. His will was dated 1 mo. 15, 1833; a codicil was dated 1 mo. 28, 1833, and a 2nd codicil was dated 3 mo. 29, 1833. His will was probated in Fayette Co., Pa. A copy was filed in Columbiana Co. and either the date of this filing or the date of probate was 7 Dec. 1844."

John and Mary's children were:

Elizabeth, ("mentioned in Haines Ancestry, but not mentioned in Crooked Run MM, Va., records") Eli b. 01/14/1780; m. Ruth Miller and Phebe (Pope) Cobb Atlantic, b. 12/31/1783; d. 09/25/1795 John Samuel

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
