She married on Sept 02,1847 in Norfolk,Virginia, Richard Dickson, son of William Dickson,Sr & Mary Davis. Richard & Kate had two children before she died on June 30,1855 at age 28, 6 years before the American Civil War (Franklin Pierce's 3rd year as 14th President). Kate is buried in Norfolk's Elmwood Cemetery (1st burial in Richard Dickson's lot)
