Per Genealogy Research of Lorraine Luke: "in January 1675 the burgers of Kingston took the Oath of Allegiance, and George Hall was made lieutenant of the militia, Hendrix Joachim the ensign, & Matthys Matthysen, Sr., Sergeant. Chambers remained captain. On Oct., 3, 1674, the Colony of NY returned to the gov't of England. Hall was appointed sheriff. He had already been collector of excise, herdsmen, and fence viewer. Ulster Co.'s 1st sheriff under the English." [Sic]
"Joris Hall to ye Esopus" is listed in a 1682/1683 inventory of the estate of Asser Levy as a debtor owing ff.692.15. Other Esopus names listed immediately after his are "William Notingam at ditto," owing ff.287. 8, and "Wessel Tenn Brock at Ditto to," owing ff.466. 10.[1]
