2 Ellisville Men Die In Accident

Killed in a car-truck collision near Hattiesburg early Thursday morning were two Ellisville men who were former Jones County employes.

Harvey Joe Watson, 28, of the Pendorff Community and Porter Hall, 51, of 601 Herrington St., Ellisville, were killed instantly in a collision which involved their automobile and a truck driven by Charles Burnson of Meridian. Burnson escaped injury, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred around 4 a.m. one mile south of Hattiesburg on Interstate 59. The highway patrol said the car apparently stopped on the highway and the truck hit, it from the rear. However, the patrol headquarters at Hattiesburg said the investigation of the accident has not been completed.

Funeral arrangements for Watson are incomplete and the body is at Jones Funeral home in Ellisville.

He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Watson, Ellisville; one daughter, Teresa Watson, Ellisville; three brothers, Fred and J. C. Watson, Ellisville; and Byron Watson, New Orleans, La.; three sisters, Mrs. Lois Abbey, Mrs. Hazel Abbey and Mrs. Anna Lois Baker all of Ellisville.

Funeral services for [Porter] Hall, a truck driver, will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at the Tidings Assembly of God Church. Burial will be in the Ellisville cemetery. The body will be carried to the family residence late Thursday afternoon where it will remain until time for the services.

Survivors are his mother and step father, Mr. and Mrs. Pat Watson, Ellisville; one brother, Jack Hall, Ellisville; and one sister, Mrs. Ina Bolton, Bay Town, Tex.

Memory Chapel is in charge of arrangements.[2]
