DEATH OF MRS M. A. ALCORN,

A very old and deeply respected resident of the Jerry's Plains district, in the person of Mrs Mary Ann Alcorn, of "Great Lodge, and relict of the late Richard Alcorn, passed away at 2.30 a.m. yesterday. Death occurred at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. E. L. Hobden, Dangar road, Redbournberry, where she had been staying for some weeks. She had been an invalid for three and a half years, following a stroke of paralysis. The deceased was born at Emu Plains, near Penrith, and was within two months of her 91st birthday. She was married at Emu Plains, and came to Jerry's Plains over 50 years ago. The husband has been dead about 20 years, and she resided with a son (Mr Reginald Alcorn). De spite her great age, the deceased retained all her faculties, and could relate many interesting reminiscence's of the days of early settlement. She leaves seven sons and three daughters, viz., Messrs Richard (Newcastle), Edwin. (Jerry's Plains), Charles (West Australia), Arthur (Quirindi), George (Molong), Reginald (Jerry's Plains), and Raymond (Newcastle), Mesdames E. L. Hobden (Redbournberry), H. Johnson ("Great Lodge," Jerry's Plains), and H. Herps (Newcastle), One son predeceased her. The funeral will leave the residence of Mrs E. L. Hobden, Dangar-road, Redbournberry, at noon to-day, and the interment will take place about 2 p.m. in the Church of England cemetery- at Jerry's Plains.
