Biography

Millicent (or Milly) Hall was born around 1734, the daughter of Joshua Hall. She was baptized at Redding, Connecticut on Nov 24, 1734 as the daughter of Joshua Hall.

She married Benjamin Fairchild, son of Samuel and Ruth Fairchild and they had 9 children. They moved to Ontario when she was 63 and Benjamin was 71. They were accompanied by most of their adult children and settled in Brant, Ontario. Because they were UEL they experienced hardships after the Revolutionary War. Benjamin and Melissa were among those brave men and women who settled the Long Point Settlement, specifically the Norfolk County.

From Land Petition of Mille Fairchild (1797):

I do hereby certify that Mille Fairchild is widow to Benjamin Fairchild deceased who joined the Royal Standard at Fort Edward in the Year 1777 and daughter of Joshua Hall, likewise a Loyalist and that Ruth Fairchild is daughter to the aforesaid Benjamin and Millie Fairchild born in the Year 1774

Fairchild-1966 Fairch Fairchild
It is apparent that there is a difference between Timothy Marsh Fairchild and Jean Fairchild Gilmore's publications regarding Melissa's parentage. However, given the traditional naming conventions of this society at the time, a daughter named Deborah and a son named Joshua would go a long way in convincing me that Timothy Marsh Fairchild got it right.

Hall-17114 and Hall-6142 appear to represent the same person because: while there are inconsistencies between the two and omissions in Hall-6142 which available records support - vis a vis Joshua Hall as father, the two profiles seem to represent same person.
