Biography

He immigrated to the Swan River colony with his parents and siblings on the Protector arriving on 26 February 1830.[1]

James married Lucy Lazenby on 11 October 1858 at Cardup.[1]

Married. On the 11th October, at the Regester's Office for the District of the Serpentine, by the Very Rev. the Dean of Perth, in the presence of a numerous circle of relatives and friends, and the Hon. the Judge of the Colony, James Anderton, third Son of Henry E. Hall, Esq., of Woongung, to LUCY, Eldest Daughter of Mr. G. Lazemby of Cardup, and late Master Builder in Perth.[2]

By 1860 he had moved to Byford.

Lucy died in 1873 and James married Lillian Bruce on 17 December 1874 at Perth.[1]

James was a farmer and grazier at Canning in the 1860s and 70s, he was in Cossack in 1875. He employed four Ticket of Leave men 1864-69.[1]

We regret to learn of, the death' of Mr. Anderton Hall, which occurred on the 9th instant, at the North-West, of which he was numbered with the pioneer settlers. Mr. Hall succumbed to cancer in the face — a malady which has carried off several other members of the same family.[3]

Great misspelling of his name: "Auditon"! (In Family Notices (1904, February 20). Western Mail p. 31; I'm adding the source above.)
