Biography

Susan Hall was the eldest daughter of Edwin Hall. She was 12 years old when her family departed from Adelaide and arrived at Port Chalmers. Susan married at age 22 to John Bonelba Payton at her parent's home at Great King St, Dunedin. They were to have 5 children in their marriage. Susan and John moved north to Wellington in 1890. In 1915, Susan was among a group of people who offered accommodation for invalided soldiers. Susan and John returned to the South Island during the 20's and settled in Christchurch. Susan Annie Payton died age 84 at her Beckenham home and is buried at Sydenham Cemetery, Christchurch. PLOT 36A, PLOT 72.
