Biography

Robert was born in 1565.

Robert features in the Visitation of Hertfordshire of 1634 (p. 62 of the Harleian edition), in which he is presented as the husband of Dorothy daughter of William Downes co Salop, the father of William Halsey, the armiger and holder of the Great Gaddesden property in 1634. ^[1]

According to the History of Hertfordshire ^[2], Robert was the son of William Halsey and his wife Anne.

Robert and Dorothy's children included:

• Duncombe Halsey of London, mercer; married and had issue; died before 1633
• James Halsey, M.A. from Clare College, Cambridge; D.D.; rector of St. Alphage, London, 17 Oct 1638; died 1640/1

According to Donald Halsey at Genforum: He was buried at Great Gaddesden on October 12, 1618. His will, dated October 5, was proved on November 4 of the same year. -
