Biography

Scottish flag
Christina (Halyburton) Haliburton was born in Scotland.

Christina was the daughter of Walter Haliburton[1] probably by his wife Marjory Douglas.

She married, in 1440, George Leslie, first earl of Rothes[1][2] They divorced in 1459.[1][2][3] They had issue:

  1. Adam[4]
  2. Elizabeth[2][4]
  3. Christian[4]

Research Notes

Given Christina's marriage in 1440, one can infer her birth before 1428., As her mother (or step-mother) died about 1420[5] one can place the birth even earlier, prior to 1420.
James Balfour Paul says on the section on Dirleton that Christina is the daughter of the younger Walter Haliburton[1], but in the section on Rothes has her as the brother.[2] From the dates, it appears that the Dirleton version is correct. This error seems to have originated with Robert Douglas.[6]

Halyburton-38 and Halyburton-8 appear to represent the same person because: This is clearly a duplicate. Halyburton-8 was hiding as a MALE even though the biography had her as a granddaughter. This seems to occur often with woman named 'Christian'
