Biography

Ebenezer Hamblen was born May 12, 1683, the son of John Hamblen and Sarah Bearse of Barnstable, Massachusetts^{[1] [2]}

On May 11, 1710, he married Thankful Hamblen, daughter of Israel Hamblen and Abigail Lumbert on May 11, 1710^{[1] [2] [3]}, and their children included:

1. Isaac, born February, 1711, died April 1711^{[1] [2]}
2. Gershom, born July 19, 1713 ^[2], who married Hannah Almony^[1]
3. Thankful, born August 6, 1715 ^[2], who married Joseph Bangs^{[1] [4]}
4. Nathan, born June 29, 1717 ^[2] who was living when his father died, and may have been unmarried^[1]
5. Ebenezer Jr, born November 26, 1719 ^[2], who married Joanna (Bumpas) Hamelin, daughter of Samuel Bumpas and Joanna Warren, and widow of Samuel Hamelin^{[5] [1]}
6. a daughter, born September 20, 1720; who died same day^{[1] [2]}
7. Samuel, born January 7, 1722^{[1] [2]}. He (along with his siblings Dorcas and Nathan) was a deaf-mute. He may (or may not) have married Joanna Bumpas and died young, or he could have been the Samuel Hamblen who married Temperance Lewis^[1].
8. Dorcas, who was born June 5, 1727^{[1] [2]}, and baptized August 8, 1725^[6]
9. Timothy, who was born born September 3, 1728^{[1] [2]}, and baptized September 15, 1728^[7]
10. Elizabeth, who was born November 20, 1730^{[1] [2]} and baptized November 22, 1729/30^[8]
11. Daniel, who was born born April 2, 1735^{[1] [2]}, and baptized April 6, 1735^[9], and who married Elizabeth Childs^[1]

He lived on his father's estate, called Great or Nine Mile Pond, or Cooper's Pond^[2].

He died in 1736 at age 53^[2]. His will, was dated October 25, 1725 and proved July 6, 1736^{[1] [10]}

Thankful Hamblen died January 15, 1768^[2]
