for the sake of historical record and expediency I have consolidated all I know about Ed Hamblett and his family here on his page. I mean no disrespect to the descendants of Ed Hamblett.

Edward C Hamblett was born a slave to the slave woman known as Ann or Annie. It was also generally known that he was the son of William Wortham Hamblett. He retained close ties to the family even though at the time such relationships were frowned upon.
He married Martha and had numerous children with her. His youngest son Erusalem was friends with the the great grandsons of William Wortham Hamblett (they were same age). Erusalem and CR Hamblett could often be found fishing together along with Edward C Hamblett.
Edward C Hamblett died when Audrey Eveline Hamblett (CR Hamblett's daughter) was 10 years old. His burial in Air Mount Mississippi and Audrey remembers that all family members white and black attended the funeral.
Erusalem. Erusalem was about the same age as Claude Ray Hamblett and the two of them were fishing buddies.
When Edward Hamblett died my mother was about 10 years old. She said she attended his funeral. All the Hambletts both black and while attended the funeral. Edward was highly thought of in the community.
After my grandfather Claude Ray Hamblett died, one of the children of Erusalem came for a visit along with her daughter in law. She left my mother with some pictures of Ed and family which I have posted to my Ancestry wall.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Ed by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Ed:
