Marriage Contrat de mariage de Jean Hamel et Anne Félicité le Vasseur (23 avril 1685) Vol VII pg 27 Notaire François Genaple[4]
The Census of New France in 1666 indicates that Mathieu Chesneau, Marie Anne Hamel, Pierre Hamel, Jean François Hamel, Marie Auvry and Jean Hamel lived in Sillery, Cap-Rouge or Saint-François-Xavier[5]
He was also called Jean Hamel and known as Pierre on at least one occasion, the 13 Feb 1699 [6]
He was a cultivateur (farmer) in 1701 at Ste-Foye.
He witnessed the death of 5 of his children the 5 Jan 1701 in the house fire of their residence.[7]
It has also been reported that he married a second time to Marguerite Lemay b. 1700, with one child as a result, Alexis Hamel, b. 27 Aug 1729.[8] (This is very unlikely as his last child was born in 1707 and his wife Anne Félicité Levasseur died September 24, 1748. I have seen no source supporting this second marriage).
Death and Burial Jean Hamel passed away on 30 Aug 1733 being given the age of around 74 years on the record. His burial was on 1 Sep 1733 in Notre-Dame de l'Annonciation parish cemetery of L'Ancienne Lorette.[9][10]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Jean by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Jean:
Hamel-261 and Hamel-184 appear to represent the same person because: same name, DOB one day apart (but the location is the same), same father, the date of death is exactly one year apart (but the location is the same)
