Biography

John was born about 1834, in Antrim, Northern Ireland.

The marriage of John Hamill and Agnes Mcdill took place in the Ballymena District of Northern Ireland in 1851. [1]

John Hamill arrived at the port of Geelong, on 12th November 1856, on the ship Nugget, which had set sail from Birkenhead. With him was his wife Nancy and their two children Ellen and John. Both John and Nancy were shown as age 22, and they came from Antrim. [2] Also on the same ship were John's married sister Nancy Milligan (Miliken), with her husband Hugh, and son Robert James.

John's death was registered in Dimboola, Victoria in 1899 (Reg no 13419). His parents were shown as John Hamill and Nancy (unknown). [3]

John Hamill his wife Nancy (Madill) with daughter Ellen and son John emigrated to Australia on the Nugget in 1856.

Leaving Liverpool on the 17 Aug arriving Geelong Victoria on the 12 Nov 1856. Along with about 380 other assisted immigrants. From Geelong the family moved to the out skirts of Creswick Victoria.
