Biography

William Morgan Hamilton was born 6 Jan 1830 in Detroit, Michigan. His family moved several times as he was growing up. When he was 24, he Married Nancy Hardin Walker, daughter of Sylvanus B Walker and Emeline Mildred Lewis. William and Nancy were married 15 Mar 1854 in Linden, Marengo, Alabama, United States A year later. on March 10th, 1855, their first daughter, Sue Ophelia was born in Livingston, TX. Ella Walker Hamilton was their second daugter, born 19 Mar 1857 in Seguin, TX Their third daughter was born 7 May 1859 in Seguin, TX . They named her Mollie Lewis Hamilton.

An 1860 census lists William's profession as MD.

In 1861 William joined the 22nd Regiment of the Texas Infantry (Hubbard's) . He entered the Civil war as a Private.

Their fourth born was Nannie Lee Hamilton born on 19 Dec 1861 in Livingston, TX. Their fifth daughter, Fannie Willie Hamilton, was born on 20 Mar 1865. in Weimer, TX.

In 1965, when the Civil war ended, William He ranked out as a Surgeon.

Emma Mildred Hamilton was born on 07 Jul 1867 in Weimer, TX. Their seventh and last child, another daughter, was Allie Irene Hamilton. She too, was born in Weimer, Texas.

On 08 Nov 1870 at 40 years of age, William Morgan Hamilton died at his home in Weimer, Tx

Younger brothers Arthur Claude Hamilton, b.01-21-1832, Monroe Co., NY and Thomas Benjamin Hamilton, b. 1835 Rochester, NY. Believed to have a brother named Samuel A. Hamilton and a half-brother named Charles who might have been born in PA. Also, a sister named Mary. Wm. Morgan moved several times and married Nancy Hardin Walker 03-15-1855 in Marengo Co., AL. Moved to Texas (Colorado and Guadalupe Co.) and served as a Surgeon in the 22nd Regiment for the Confederacy. Died 1870. Brother Thomas Benjamin m. Editha Hockersmith in Indianapolis, IN and served with the Indiana unit for the Union. Died in Houston, TX in 1910.Census records indicate father born in NY.
