Jane Elizabeth Hamilton was born in July 1806 at Lesmahagow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.
Jean married John Wilson on 1 November 1828 at Avondale, Lanarkshire. They had six children born there: John, Andrew, Thomas, Robert, Margaret, and James.
About 1840, Jean and John moved to Eaglesham, Renfrewshire, Scotland. There they had five more children: Elizabeth, William, Jane, Archibald, and Mary.
They left Scotland for Canada in 1855, settling on a farm in Sydenham township, Grey county, Canada West (later Ontario).
Jean died on 5 March 1880 at Sydenham. She was buried in Saint Paul's United Church Cemetery, Sydenham.[1]
