Biography of Margaret M. Hamilton Cox

Margaret M. Hamilton was born on 10 Jul 1905 in Missouri. Her parents were William John Hamilton and Jeannette Elizabeth "Nettie" Thomas. ^[1] Her father William John Hamilton died in 1923 and her parents had divorced before prior to 1920. ^[2]

On 15 Apr 1922 Margaret married Arthur Eilertson in Pierce, Washington. ^[3] In the 1926 City Directory for Tacoma, Margaret and Arthur are living in a house at 214 S. 54th Street in Tacoma. ^[4]

In the U.S. City Directories, 1822-1995 for Margaret Eilertson, dated 1929, Margaret is listed as living in Room 214 South 54th Street in Tacoma, WA. Her husband, Arthur is listed above her, but living at 2141 South Main Street. He was a baker. ^[5]

In the 1930 Census, Margaret is living with her mother and indicates that she is divorced. There are two children living with Jeannette and Margaret. They are indicated to be Jeannette's grandchildren. The children and Margaret are all using the surname Hamilton. The children are Megan Hamilton, age 6, and Duane, age 4. ^[6]

On 31 Dec 1933 Margaret married Alvin V. Cox. In attendance was her brother Robert C. Hamilton and his wife, Kathryn Scott Early Hamilton. ^[7]

In 1934, according to the city records, Margaret and her husband were living at 753 1/2 St. Helen's Ave., apt. 4. Occupation listed for Alvin is as assistant engineer for Annie Wright Seminary [1]. ^[8] Margaret and Alvin had two children: Alan Robert Cox (1934-2004) and David T. Cox. (1935-1993) ^[9]

Margaret passed away on 25 Aug 1969 in Garden Grove, Orange, California. ^{[10] [11]}
