Archibald Hamilton was the second eldest son of Reverend Hans Hamilton and Janet Denham. (WikiData: Q76294753 Q75441590)
He lived at Halcraig, Lanarkshire, Scotland (1). 2nd s. Writer to Signet (ie lawyer). Later of Limerick, Ireland.
By his second wife, Rachel Carmichael, he is said to have had 22 children including Gawen Hamilton who died in 1703. (2) Rachel Carmichael was the daughter of Walter Carmichael (1557 - 1625) of Park and Hyndford and Grizel Carmichael.
