Family said to be from Tullyvanus. This is an area northeast of Castleblaney, east of the town of Aghnadamph and south of Lurganearly, in County Monaghan and just a little south west of the border with Northern Ireland.
However, Daughter Martha's Death Certificate gives Scotland as place of birth of her mother and father.
"Nothing much is known about Mary Hamilton ... she was born in either Ireland or Scotland in 1775 and died in Eramosa, Ontario in 1855, 80 years of age. A great, great grandson wrote that she was a beautiful, talented woman. Patrick and Mary are both buried in McCormack's Cemetery, which is located in the southwest corner of Lot 17, Eramosa Township, Ontario." [Leone Hinds]
