- N278Retired Lecta Postmaster James T. Hamilton, 83, Dies Unexpectedly
- James T. Hamilton, 83, of 544 Second Ave., was found dead at his home around 9 a.m., today. He had been ill the past two weeks.
- Mr. Hamilton, a retired farmer, storekeeper, and postmaster at Lecta for 33 years, was born Aug. 30, 1888, at Clipper Mills, son of the late Thomas and Rachael Rose Hamilton.
- He married Esta Elizabeth Wiseman on May 23, 1914. She preceded him in death in April, 1967.
- He is survived by a son, Frank Hamilton, Lower River Rd. One son, John, preceded him in death. One sister, Mrs. Martha Elizabeth Riggs, preceded him in death.
- Six grand and three greatgrandchildren survive. Two brothers and one sister survive: Robert Ray Hamilton, Indianapolis, Ind.; Jehu Hamilton, Westerville, and Mrs. Edith Featherstone, Los Angeles.
- One brother, Charles, preceded him in death. One sister, Mrs. Mary Cornwell preceded him in death.
- The Hamiltons moved to Gallipolis from Lecta in 1950. He was a member of the Okey Chapel Church, Lecta, and was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church, Gallipolis. He was a member of the Ohio Valley Grange.
