Thankyou for your input, including Hugh's 3 brothers names. My email is [email address removed] and would love to correspond.I have OPR that shows Hugh birth and baptism and could send it to your email for your opinion. Please could I see copy of your record as well.Hugh and Marion's son Alexander had two children,Catherine and Alexander. All the descendents of this Alexander that I have had DNA tested have no Hamilton DNA Y or Autosomal.I am Trying desperately to find the non parental event.Looks like Alexanders wife Hannah Billsland had an affair in Australia.Any input or ideas?
Hi Keith. I have recently joined Wiki and posted some of my family Hamilton. Alan Hamilton and I are in regular correspondence about the family. He and I are both directly descended from William Hamilton of Stobbieside, who was married to Anna Granger. We have it that William had four children, Hugh (the subject of your family), James (my GGGrandfateher), William (Alan's GGGGrandfather) and John. I hold a copy of Hugh's baptism record showing that Hugh was the son of William of Stobeyside and was born on 3rd January 1778 and christened on 5th January 1778.
This leads me to question whether your Hugh is, in fact, a child of William Hamilton and Anna Granger, as you are showing your Hugh as having been baptised in 1776!
Thankyou Peter.I must up date Wiki-tree tree.I have children of Hugh and Marion as Agnes Archibald Jean Janet John Hugh Marion William James Alexander and Ann.I do have contact with Judith Owen. Her line{and yours} is from Hugh and Isobel .It is Rev Robert Hamilton,Charles Hamilton,Mary Helen Hamilton,Doctor John Michael Owen,Judith Owen.I am descendent from Alexander B.20/3/1817.He and Hannah Billsland had 2 children Catherine and Alexander.Catherine was born in Scotalnd,Alexander born in Talbrager Creek,Bligh,Dubbo.I am descendent from this Alexander.Unfortunately all descendents of Alexander I have had Y DNA tested ,have no Hamilton DNA.We are all at a loss here as DNA says we are Johnsons.Any comments or Ideas would be appreciated. Thanks Keith.
The following individuals are NOT children of Hugh and Marion Hamilton as specified. No children of this couple were born in Greenock, Renfrewshire. Archibald, b 1818; Hugh William, b 1821; Robert, b 1823 ; Isabella, b 1824; Jean Campbel,l b 1825. Marion Hamilton died on 2 May 1823 at East Kilbride. Hugh remarried on 8 Aug 1824 to Isobel Warnock (nee Roberton) - they had one son, Robert b 3 May 1826. They all lived at the Headhouse farm, East Kilbride, Lanarkshire, Scotland. All references are to be found in the Old Parish Registers (OPRs) searchable through Scotlands People. Rev Robert Hamilton was my great grandfather, Hugh and Isobel were his parents.
