Biography

Matthew was born in 1877 in Carisbrook, Victoria. He was the son of Robert Hamilton and Sarah Marsh.^[1]

Matthew married Eveleen Young in 1906 in the Subiaco district of Western Australia.^[2]

Matthew and Eveleen had a daughter Elsie in 1907 in the Perth district of Western Australia.^[3]

Matthew was left a widower when Eveleen died in 1907 following the birth of their daughter.^[4]

Elsie passed away not long after her mother in 1908 in the Perth district of Western Australia at the age of 10 months.^[5]

Matthew married Mary Rowatt in the Perth district of Western Australia in 1910.^[6]

The couple's son Frederick was born in 1910 in the Perth district of Western Australia.^[7] Their daughters Lillian 1915 and Jean 1918 were both born in the East Coolgardie district of Western Australia. ^[8][9]

In 1916 Matthew and Mary are recorded living at 8 Campbell Street in the the Kalgoorlie district of Western Australia. Matthew was a police constable.^[10]

In 1931 Matthew and Mary were recorded at Falcon Street, Narrogin. Matthew was a police constable.^[11]

Matthew was widowed for a second time in 1964 when his wife of over 50 years died after a lengthy period of ill health.^[12]

Matthew passed away not long after his wife ion 9 October 1964 in Royal Perth Hospital. He was 87 years old.^[13] He was buried at Karrakatta Cemetery.^[14][15]
