Thomas Hambleton.
According to family tradition the Hamiltons are of Scottish descent, coming first to the state of Delaware and thence to
Maryland; and from there to Bedford County, Virginia and thence to Sullivan County, Tennessee before coming to Floyd Co.,
KY. All of this time they spelled their name Hambleton, the Scottish spelling of Hamilton. Their first deeds for land was spelled
Hamilton.
