Notes
Note N191Not named in Lewis Hamilton will.
Note N680I have not found definitive proof that the Adam Hamilton, married to Sarah Sweeney, is the son of William and Mary Foster Hamilton. He is the only Adam Hamilton in the right location, Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania. There are other family ties to this location. William married his second wife, Elizabeth, in Elizabethtown and he is buried there. Although the rest of the family moved to Dauphin Co. between 1860 and 1870, Adam was old enough to have stayed behind. In the 1870 census, Adam, age 22, is living alone in Elizabethtown and is a blacksmith, probably an apprentice, since he is living in the household of an older blacksmith. Records of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Elizabethtown, PA show a marriage date of 17 April 1893. This is substantiated by the 1900 census which said they had been married 27 years. I'm still not sure about his age. The 1900 census shows him born in Dec. 1849, but his tombstone shows a death date of Sept. 27, 1903, aged 57 years, which would indicate a birth year of 1845. Earlier censuses indicate a birth year about 1847. This family seems to have a problem knowing when they were born.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Adam by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Adam:
