Biography

The Rev. William Hamilton served in the Diocese of Derry. He was baptized 19 September 1684 at St. Michan's, Dublin.

He married Angel (Unknown).

  1. John Hamilton, his eldest son in Holy Orders ; had two sons (will of Lettice Hamilton proved 8 July, 1763) and settled in America (will of Sir Patrick Hamilton).
  2. Thomas married Ann Rouse, otherwise Slicer, daughter of Thomas Payne.
  3. Patrick Knt., Alderman and Lord Mayor of Dublin 1760 ; married Elizabeth, daughter of Richard Meredyth of Greenhills, Co. Kildare. He died at Twickenham; will pr. 18 Oct., 1780
  4. Jane married Rev Adam Harvey
  5. Letitia married William Young of Coolkeiragh House, Co. Derry
  6. Ann married Rev George McGhee

The parishes of Termonamongan and Camus-Juxta-Mourne, County Tyrone. [2]

The Rev. William Hamilton was appointed Rector of Termonamongan parish on 8 August 1716, and served in this and a concurrent position in Camus-Juxta-Mourne from 8 May 1734 until his death on 26 May 1765. He was succeeded as Rector of Termonamongan parish by his son-in-law, Rev Adam Harvey, who served there from 1765 to 1771, and succceeded as Rector of Camus-Juxta-Mourne by his son-in-law, Rev George McGhee, who served there from 1765 to until his death on 1 July 1769. The Rev Adam Harvey was Rector of Camus-Juxta-Mourne from 1769 until his death on 30 October 1793.

Will of Rev. William Hamilton, of Strabane, dated 12 June 1760 and proved 17 July 1765 by Sir Patrick Hamilton of the city of Dublin Knt., one of his sons.
