Sarah Hamlin was born on 01 July 1671 in Barnstable, (then) Plymouth Colony, the daughter of John and Sarah (Bearse) Hamlin.[1]
She married first Richard Higgins before 1695, though their marriage was not recorded.[2][3][4][5] They resided in Eastham.[3]
Sarah (Hamblen) Higgins married John Cole as his second wife on 15 November 1732 in Eastham.[6] John's first wife, Mary Rogers had died on 17 February 1731/2.[7]
Lt. John Cole died on 13 December 1746.[7] His will, dated 30 July 1743 and proved 19 January 1746/7, named wife Sarah and gave her "what is due her from her former husband's estate."[8][9] There is no indication in the probate record whether or not Sarah was still alive when John died.[8]
Children of Richard and Sarah (Hamlin) Higgins, born Eastham:[10]
Sarah's mother was at one time said to be of Native American descent. This was rebutted by Jacobus. Please review information on her father's profile about his disputed spouse.
