Mary was a Friend (Quaker)

Mary Hammer was born on 31 Jul 1768 in Cane Creek MM, Orange, North Carolina, United States, daughter of Abraham Obediah Hammer I (1730 - 1791) and Rachel Rebecca (Meeting) Hammer (~1731 - 1778).

Her siblings were:

  1. Elisha Hammer (1756 - 1837)
  2. Isaac Franklin Hammer (1763 - 1837)
  3. Abraham Obediah Hammer (1771 - 1850)

Mary married John N. Adamson (1767 - 1828) in 1786.

Their children were:

  1. Abraham Adamson (1790 - 1863)
  2. Enos Adamson (1793 - 1846)
  3. Luesena (Adamson) Lamb (1795 - ~1826)
  4. Mordecai Adamson (1798 - 1848)
  5. Solomon Adamson (1800 - 1860)
  6. Isaac Adamson (1802 - 1878)
  7. Eleanor Adamson (1804 - >1880)
  8. Seth Oden Adamson Sr. (1808 - 1852).

  • John N. Adamson and Mary Hammer were married in 1786. Cane Creek Monthly Meetings (Orange, now Alamance Co NC).
  • 1786, Mary formerly Hammer was dismissed from her Quaker Meeting for marrying out of unity
  • 1803, Mary condemned her misconduct and was granted certificate
  • 1806, Mary formerly Hammer granted certificate to Lost Creek Monthly Meeting (certificate granted 1803, 12, 2, had been lost and was replaced)
  • Lost Creek was in Jefferson County, Tennessee.

Mary died on 6 Jan 1873 in Huntsville, Madison, Indiana, USA aged 104.
