Engelbert Hammer, 86, a retired farmer, died at 1 p.m. Tuesday at his home in Marytown after a lingering illness. Son of Matthias and Katherine Theyerl Hammer, he was born in Austria and attended school in Johnsburg. He was married June 20, 1903 to Anna Roehrig at Marytown. They farmed in that area until 1945, Mr. Hammer retired. They went to Kiel, residing there until 1956, when they moved to Marytown. Surviving are the widow; five children, Mrs. Walter Wisherchen of St. Anna, Mrs. Frank Muellenbauer of Kiel, Mrs. Hubert Pickart of Slinger, Joseph of Marytown and Mrs. Alfred Muellenbach of Marytown; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Frances Herr and Mrs. Julia Wagner both of Plymouth. A daughter, brother and sister preceded him in death. Friends may call at the Lisowe Funeral Home, St. Cloud after 2 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be there Friday at 9 a.m. and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's church, Marytown. The Rev. George Budde will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6]
