His father first appears on records in St. Mary's County, Maryland, as of 1731, but it is clear in the record he was living there before that date. McKelvie was likely born before this date.
McKelvie's wife was named Henrietta Forrest, mentioned as a Next of Kin on estate papers regarding of Patrick Forrest, 1747.[1] McKelvie was mentioned as a next of kin beneficiary Patrick's brother Richard in 1761.[2]
Witness on will of Hopewell Hebb, St. Mary's County, 14 October 1767[3]
He is listed in St. Mary's county on the 1790 Census.[4]
Will names the following children: Robert, Richard, Mary Wherrett, Dorothy, Frances, Sarah. Wife Henrietta. Will written 30 Oct 1794, proved 1795.[5]
His cousin Robert Mckelvie Hammett was the person who was married to Ann Hammett, who left a will dated 13 Jan 1795, proved 10 Feb 1795.
