Biography

Rebecca Hammond was born about 1812^[1] probably in Arkansas. Her parents are at this time unknown.

Rebecca married as second wife Jonathan Magness on 3 June 1832 in Independence County, Arkansas. The Arkansas Gazette of 18 July 1832, in reporting their marriage, mentions that Jonathan was 76 and Rebecca was 20. They are said to have had one daughter Mary Ann, who died young.^{[1] [2]}
