According to HISTORY AND GENEALOGY OF THE HAMMOND FAMILY, pages 12 and 13 (Vol. 2), this Eleazer "was Selectman in Newton in 1741."
The will of Widow Hannah,(Middlesex Pobate {sic}, No 7148) dated April 4, 1764, mentions son, Ephraim; daughters, Patience Chamberlain, Hannah Green, Abigail Harrington, Susanna Fulham, Lydia Hammond; and grand-daughter, Lydia Hammond. As both her son, Eleazer, and daughter, Lydia, had daughters named Lydia Hammond, it is uncertain which was meant, but since her son, Eleazer, had probably already received his share of the estate, this was probably the daughter of John and Lydia Hammond.
Eleazer's will, (Middlesex Probate, No. 7143,) dated May 1, 1760, gives to his wifeHannah, household goods, except those given to daughter, Patience Hammond, allcorn and grain in house at time of his decease, use of two cows to be kept forher on homestead, one third of all grain and produce of the farm from year to year, "also my Riding Chair" and disposal of a horse to be kept on farm for her, cider, apples and firewood to be cut and laid at her door. " give her the liberty to have a swine to go and feed about my house during her natural life." Also use of part of house.
