Biography

Nathaniel Hammond was born February 6, 1763 in Rochester, Massachusetts. His parents were Faunce Hammond and Mary Holmes. He was a shoemaker, and lived at South Woodstock (in Windsor County, Vermont).

Nathaniel married Mary Adams (who was born in 1755, and died October 29, 1821).

Together, they had seven children:

  • 1) Nathaniel Hammond Jr.; b. Nov 2, 1786---d. Feb 2, 1874
  • 2) Abram Hammond; b. in 1788---d. Mar 18, 1812
  • 3) Mary Hammond; b. in 1790---d. in 1821
  • 4) David Hammond; b. in 1792---d. Oct 29, 1854
  • 5) George Hammond; b. abt 1794---d. abt 1829
  • 6) Henry Clinton Hammond; b. Aug 20, 1797---d. June 1844
  • 7 John G. Hammond; b. Apr 8, 1800---d. Jul 8, 1876

He died Aug 19, 1834.
