Ambrose Matthias was born in 1929 in Lake, Mississippi. He was the son of William Sebron Hammond and Helen Mae Holyfield [Holyfield-170] While he was growing up, his family moved around in Mississippi and Louisiana (will add some specific places later). He joined the U.S. Air Force around 1950 (will confirm date). He Married Dixie Lou Hill in Wichita, Kansas in 1964. He had two sons, Timothy Owen Hammond and Paul Wayne Hammond. He served in Thailand during the Vietnam war. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1971 while stationed at Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base in Kansas City, Kansas. He move from there to Bois D'Arc Missouri for a brief time (unsure of the dates, but I (Tim Hammond) started first grade there and finished it in Oklahoma). In early 1972 he moved to his wife's home town of Amorita, Oklahoma. In late 1972 they moved to Byron, Oklahoma. Ambrose was the maintenance operator for the Alfalfa County Rural Water System for many year, and later became a circuit rider (traveling technical advisor for rural water systems) for the Oklahoma Rural Water Association. Dixie passed away in May, 2003. In late 2006 Ambrose was diagnosed with lung cancer. In April, 2007, he traveled to stay with his wife's neice (Cathy Canon - haven't searched for her profile yet) in Monroe, Louisiana, intending to return to Byron after a short stay. However Ambrose passed away while still in Monroe, on April 15, 2007. He is buried in the Bethel Cemetary near Amorita, Oklahoma.
This is all first-hand knowledge, entered by his son, Timothy.
